Here are some Tips
- You or an appointed representative should be there when the movers arrive
- Make any necessary travel arrangements (car, hotel).
- Make sure your new location is available for your agreed upon date.
- Secure school records that you will need at your new location.
- Contact insurance company regarding coverage during your move.
- Your veterinarian can advise you how to move your pets.
- Prepare and organize all personal records and valuables. Keep them in a file and take it with you. We do not recommend packing licenses, passports, credit cards, jewelry or other valuables.
- Pack in stages
- Discard bleach, gasoline, leaky containers and other items too dangerous to transport.
- Plan for items your family will need during the move. Set them aside, label them, and instruct the movers not to load them.
- Plan the layout for your furniture in your new home
- Defrost, clean and dry your refrigerator before moving day. Leave the doors of the refrigerator open overnight before moving day.
- Label all cartons you pack Do not pack liquids
- Make a final check room by room, to be sure the van driver has loaded all that is to go.
- Please keep pets out of the way for moving day.
- Dispose of things that are not worth moving. If you do this now you will save yourself the time and expense of packing unnecessary items.
- File change of address form with your local post office.
- Notify utility companies, newspapers, and the cable company.
